Introducing Open DeFi

Bridging DeFi across networks and markets

Open DeFi is a global initiative to develop the decentralized financial ecosystem and enable greater economic inclusion. Today the DeFi ecosystem is limited to the early adopters and innovators with a lack of sustainable liquidity that is essential for stable financial markets. The complexities of the applications running on decentralized networks are not standardized for security and the average user is participating for attractive incentives without truly understanding the security implications of making those investments. The community of users and investors are often siloed in using technologies and experiences built for specific regions and languages, with few channels to get exposure to global innovations.

Open DeFi sets the ground for open innovation and cross-pollination of ideas by bringing in multiple perspectives and diverse experiences to envision the future of finance. Open DeFi has been launched by eight founding members: Conflux Network, Sequoia Capital, Blockpower, Antelope, dForce, DeBank, MCDEX and Shanghai Science and Technology Committee.

Open DeFi will serve as a bridge between CeFi institutions and DeFi projects to lay the foundation for opening up global capital markets to the latest financial innovations. The potential extends beyond transactional and investment applications to more leveraged decentralized offerings that utilize new digital assets and tokenized systems involving NFTs, data tokens, DAOs and more, in order to advance the ecosystem growth.

Goals

Our core members driving the alliance are deeply invested and have a strong foothold in the Asian Web3 technology space, especially in the China market. By bringing in more global strategic partners, Open DeFi aims to replicate for DeFi the type of exponential growth that was seen when Alibaba and WeChat took western e-commerce & digital payment innovations to over 100x for the China market.

Open DeFi plans to achieve this by focusing on three pillars:

  1. Risk management for DeFi projects interested in connecting global markets.
  2. Development of the massive DeFi market opportunity in China and the world.
  3. Co-creation of cross-border DeFi opportunities, offerings, and organizations.

Program Design

Open DeFi has crafted a unique program to pursue the objectives by organizing advisory sessions, innovation workshops, meetups, hackathons and other activities focused around the three main tracks: Risk Management, Liquidity and Innovation.

  1. Risk Management: Develop standards for responsible and sustainable growth through technical & economic security, asset insurance and regulatory insight from our expert partner network.
  2. Liquidity: Generate new strategies to enhance liquidity by bringing together DeFi networks, crypto exchanges, algorithmic trading firms and institutional investors.
  3. Innovation: Facilitation of crypto-based financial engineering and co-creation of new DeFi offerings, protocols and ventures through incubation, investment, and advisory.

We will be soon announcing our first set of global strategic partners joining the vision to Open DeFi. For the latest updates and to get in touch with us, please visit our website www.open-defi.com.
