Inspired by the remarkable engagement of our first virtual hackathon, Open DeFi has brought another Hackathon in Collaboration with Gitcoin for blockchain enthusiasts and developers who can build great solutions and win deserving rewards. Our first virtual hackathon was a great success with 950+ developers’ participation, where we offered a pool prize of $250,000+ across 40 bounties!
To have another notable and even more impactful hack fest round, Open DeFi and Gitcoin partner to host a Quarterly Hackathon focused on DeFi with immense Sponsorship Benefits and Marketing Opportunities. Open DeFi took this initiative to bring together enthusiastic developers from diverse backgrounds to connect and contribute to the evolving DeFi ecosystem collectively.
DeFi protocols, blockchain networks, and industry leaders from who support this vision of growing the DeFi ecosystem, will be sponsoring prizes for builders working on innovative ideas. The OD hackathon provides a platform to learn from multiple Web3 communities, and showcase and promote your products to a large audience.
The hackathon is a virtual event starting on August 18 and will run for 3 weeks, concluding in a demo day, where the winning projects will get a chance to present to a global audience.
We are inviting builders with different experiences, technical skills, and industries to drive the vision forward, and we are excited to see the innovation and the value created through the collaboration of our collective communities.

What Development and Growth Opportunities Do These Projects Get?
This collaboration brings various opportunities for participating in the hackathon through different programs like Open DeFi DAO / Gitcoin Community Calls. All projects sponsoring a bounty are invited to speak and present their project at an Open DeFi DAO and Gitcoin Community Call hosted on Discord. The Gitcoin Shill n’ Chill Event is another excellent way to get visibility and exposure to your projects, and it’s usually held two days before the hackathon that allows the projects to showcase their bounties to developers. Last time this event was held with 80+ attendees. Through Bounty Workshop hosted on Crowdcast, each project is invited to host a workshop for developers to see how they can utilize your technology to solve your bounty. Furthermore, through DAODay Hosted on YouTube, we will be streaming post hackathon Livestream featuring judging events, hackathon submission showcases, and panels around current topics in DeFi.
